Executive Leadership says...

By far the best workshop on performance measurement that I have ever attended!
- Jeannie Balanda, Executive Director for the East Village Youth Program, www.evyp.org

I can see how this approach could help to improve strategic plan clarity and ease of communication.
- Isabelle Singer, Executive Director, Eastern Connecticut    Symphony, http://www.ectsymphony.com

This was a very easy-to-understand introduction of outcome measurement concepts. I especially appreciated the industry-specific examples to help us develop our own unique success indicators. This helped move the process along very well.

- J.L. Nave, President and CEO, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, http://www.fortwaynephilharmonic.com

Debra was great. Clear, concise, informative.
- Marian Tsuji, President, http://lanakilahawaii.org

The "What Works" webinar introduced an incredibly valuable tool for creating a framework for measuring impact. The framework imposes a discipline for clarifying goals, outcomes and strategies and focuses attention on what you are accomplishing as opposed to what your are doing. I look forward to incorporating these practices with our staff and to the organizational learning we expect to experience.
- Jesse Rosen, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, American Symphony Orchestra League,
http://www.symphony.org

The presentation of the concepts and tools for outcome measurement were excellent. It was presented in a simple, easy to understand way. The tools provide are going to be very useful in our internal process and as we engage our partners and stakeholders. Thanks for the help!!
- William E Anderson, Executive Director, Prison Fellowship, www.prisonfellowship.org

"Your insights, your explanations, and your thoughtful responses really advanced the essential subject of performance and outcome measurement. As I suspected, the participants thought highly of the conversation and its contents. As our association members strive to discover and prepare a new generation of leaders for cultural organizations our convenings provide an invaluable place to learn from each other and from the field. Your valuable time helped us reach that potential."
- Andrew Taylor, Director of the Bolz Center for Arts Administration and President of The Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), www.artsadministration.org

 Board Members think...

Well done. This was very timely and relevant to our own strategic planning efforts.
-
Michael Keys, Board of Directors Member, Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, http://plymouthphil.org

The Center's general measurement overview training was invaluable to me as a Board member of a non-profit with few performance measurement procedures in place and a newly restated Mission.  By the end of the two hour training, I not only had foundational knowledge from which to address our need for performance measurement, I knew what next steps to take.  I can use the Center's Benchmarking Success Equation as a key communication tool to recommend critical outcomes and performance indicators to the Executive Director, staff and the rest of the Board.  Thank you, Debra!
- Jodi Gingiss, CFA & MBA
Board Member, The Enterprising Kitchen, www.theenterprisingkitchen.org
Board Member, I-GO Car Sharing, www.igocars.org

Debra was a great facilitator, giving an overall view of what was to be presented, allowing all participants to speak to the scenario, and then proceeding in greater detail the suggested steps to be taken. As a board member on the planning and vision committee, this truly enhanced the steps we have already taken and I feel really gave me an understanding of the logical progression of how to proceed realistically with our vision statement. Focusing on our ultimate goal. Thank you.
- Kate Tuohy, Board Member, Fort Wayne Philharmonic,

Grant-makers benefit, too!

“Debra is a personable and skilled facilitator.  We had a great experience that resulted in a solid framework for helping to advance our work creating positive change in American Indian communities.”
- Kelly Gibson,  Program Director, National Relief Charities

The presenter was crystal clear and answered my questions intelligently. What I really appreciated was how much simpler and easy-to-understand WhatWorks' framework is compared to what we had developed ourselves.
-Kerstin Gorham, program officer, Northwest Area Foundation,
http://www.nwaf.org

Very concise explanation of benchmarking and critical language for understanding how to more effectively develop and sustain programming and strategic planning.
- Judith Hill, Grant Manager, Chicago Housing Authority, www.thecha.org

Very well done.
-Mary Shipsey Gunn, Pueblo Grantmaking Manager, David and Lucile Packard Foundation,
www.packard.org

I often find myself in conversations about how to measure impact and the best way to use the data we receive from grantees. It was great to hear how other foundations were dealing with similar issues.
-Lauren Libruk, Philanthropy Program Assistant, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation,
www.hewlett.org

I found this webinar to be relevant, informative and thoughtful. There was terrific mixture of science and "art" in establishing measures of success.

Very strong information that can improve any organization - orchestra, arts group, for profit, etc.
- Rhonda Causie, Manager Grants and Admin Projects, Memphis Symphony, http://www.memphissymphony.org

Just reading a book keeps it mostly conceptual, being able to apply the materials hands-on, with feedback from experts like Debra Natenshon, makes it real.  I have also referenced your site in Goodwill Industries International’s Outcomes Management Self-Assessment as an important resource for Goodwills that are interested in building their outcomes management processes.

Janet Marinaccio, National Workforce Development Specialist at Goodwill Industries International, Inc.,

Overall, well done! Debra set a warm & welcoming tone, moved the session along, encouraged & answered questions, provided resources...
- Gene Gousie, Fiscal Specialist, Region X Head Start Training and Technical Assistance Network (via a contract with Booz Allen Hamilton), http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/region10/programs/head_start_tta/index.html

I thought this 2 hour webinar was great. As a benchmark to show your success, I got more out of today's two hour training than I did in a two DAY seminar on outcomes for advocacy that I attended recently. The information was presented in a clear and cohesive manner and the webinar provided space for participants to gain hands on experience, walking away with tangible results.
Thanks Debra. Very useful to me and my organization.

- Susan Anderson, Population Action International,
http://www.populationaction.org

I have been to a ton of workshops on measurement and this has been the most useful, by far. This is the information my program needs to get more grants!
- Alex Ciesla, Tutoring and Scholarship Services Manager Chicago Lights Tutoring and Scholarship Program Fourth Presbyterian Church, www.fourthchurch.org

This session was a solid start for my organization.  I feel like I still need to focus on measurable indicators in a very ambiguous area.  Thanks so much!
- Meghan Colgan, Horizons for Youth, http://horizons-for-youth.org

I really enjoyed the small class size which allowed for a conversation, instead of a didactic lecture.
- Robin Schmidt, Healthcare Alternative Systems,

As a newcomer to strategic planning, this webinar was perfect! I now feel that I can speak the language in a meaningful, results-oriented way that is neither caught up in minutia nor so vague as to be useless. Thank you!

We have an extensive and ongoing evaluation process which collects both qualitative and quantitative data. The information from this course could be useful for any future staff members joining our organization who might be interested in understanding the need for evaluation.

I presented a Benchmark Success Equation I designed that links fundraising with our mission statement to all 4 agency sites. One therapist stated that it helped them understand why we need to have fundraisers and planning for the future.

The Measuring What Works CD and webinar helped me in formulating an outcome measurement that linked our fundraising efforts with the agency mission statement. It also provided a way to present this to staff in a simple, logical manner.
