Community Foundation of North Louisiana Webinars to Applicants:

WhatWorks created and presented webinars to The Community Foundation of North Louisiana's  applicants.  The webinars provided:  1) an overview of outcome measurement; 2) introduced the WhatWorks benchmarking framework; and 3) walked the nonprofits through the WhatWorks Outcome Portal tools.  By introducing the Shreveport nonprofit community to our Outcome Frameworks and Portal tools, we aim to provide them with the ability to articulate their desired program outcomes, create a process to collect the correct data, and determine whether those outcomes are achieved.

The Center for What Works is a strategic partner with the Foundation in our work to strengthen community through philanthropy. By helping our local nonprofits measure and report outcomes, The Center has laid the groundwork for increased community impact and improved donor engagement.
- Paula Hickman, Executive Director for the Community Foundation of North Louisiana

Foundation Effectiveness Toolkit(FET):

Funded by the Kellogg Action Lab’s Innovative Practice Fund, WhatWorks is building WhatWorks Foundation Effectiveness Toolkit which compiles tools and services for funders to enhance their knowledge and skills around outcome measurement, leading to better assessment of prospective investments and increased ability to understand the results of current grantees’ portfolios.

Debra Natenshon is an emerging front-runner in the sector-wide search for better outcomes measurement. I continue to recommend her Nonprofit Effectiveness Toolkit to executive directors. With the introduction of the Foundation Effectiveness Toolkit, philanthropists should also become acquainted with her work. Observing the determination and courage Debra puts into everything she does lets me know that she will be a dynamic contributor to the field for years to come.
- Tim Brostrom, Director of Product Innovation of Fieldstone Alliance, Manager of the Innovative Practice Fund

Benchmarking Project:

Working with five Chicago-based social service agencies, WhatWorks is serving as the lead consultant to identify shared outcomes for comparison and improvement.  The five agencies will use a common data-collection platform and WhatWorks will assist with making meaning from the resulting data and information.
